LOUISBURG, NC —The #13 Lady Canes women's basketball team saw their conference record drop to 2-2 as they were defeated 68-54 by Guilford Tech CC, Friday night. LC knew they had a tough opponent coming in to the Taylor Center as Guilford Tech CC has received votes on the last two NJCAA polls. The much taller Titans used that size advantage well as they controlled the glass in the Region X game.

Point guard, Courtney Raiford (Greenwood, SC/Greenwood HS) has been the offensive leader through most of the season and she led the way in the conference loss, scoring 17 points. The sophomore also swiped six boards which was equaled but Kiara Rawls (Killeen, TX/Shoemaker HS) who also pulled down six rebounds to go with her 13 points. Gena Penick (Amherst, VA/Liberty Christian HS) was the Lady Canes bright spot on the boards as she hauled in nine rebounds and put back six points.

The 9-3 Lady Canes will play another home conference game on Wednesday when they host Brunswick CC (9-5) in the Taylor Center. Opening tip in the Region X match is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
